Terms of Reference

The Canadian BGC Argo Committee facilitates the implementation of the Canadian contribution to the BGC Argo program by coordinating and advising national efforts, and acting as liaison to the international BGC Argo Steering Committee. More specifically, the Committee shall

• encourage and document the development and operation of BGC Argo floats by Canadian scientists
• provide, in conjunction with the DFO Marine Environmental Data Section (MEDS), advice on the contents, quality and timeliness of the Argo data stream to ensure scientific and operational requirements are met
• act as a focal point for Canadian scientists interested in using BGC Argo measurements and as a network for those deploying BGC Argo floats
• liaise with the international BGC Argo Steering Team and other international initiatives as appropriate
• ensure sustained funding for the operation of the BGC Argo array and related activities
• act as a sub-committee of the Canadian Argo Steering Team
